James Dale McIntosh of Oregon City passed away Sept. 6, 2020 at the age of 81. He was born in Mancos, Colo., Nov. 21, 1938 to Caroline and Nelson McIntosh. He grew up in Eastern Oregon where he learned how to hunt, fish and ran trap lines – vital skills that would later become his favorite pastimes. He was active in professional organizations and appointed by three governors to boards and task forces related to Human Resource Management. There was never a challenge that Jim didn’t turn into a character building moment. Throughout his life Jim proved to be resourceful, hardworking and a self-starter. Qualities he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
Jim loved skiing, golfing, trailer trips and camping all over the west, and playing tennis with his Irvington Club friends. His biggest passions were deer and elk hunting and fishing – activities he loved to share with friends and family.
Above all, Jim loved spending time with his family, whether at home, traveling or spending wonderful times at his beach house in Neskowin. He will be remembered by his friends and family as a kind and gentle loving man, with a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, LaVelle; children, Michael (Audrey), Elizabeth Bankston (Steve), Tiffany Brinton (Greg), Deborah Bridgnell and Kristina Fisher (Erik); nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Gene McIntosh; sisters, Carol Bush and Judy Curtis.
