Under the new and improved Veterans Community Care Program, Veterans can now work with their VA health care provider or other VA staff to see if they are eligible to receive community care. Go to https://missionact.va.gov/ for details.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will launch its new and improved community care program June 6, 2019, implementing portions of the VA Maintaining Internal Systems and Strengthening Integrated Outside Networks Act of 2018 (the MISSION Act), which both ends the Veterans Choice Program and establishes a new Veterans Community Care Program. Representative Credic Hayden on helping veterans health needs

Rep. Cedric Hayden, Roseburg Republican followed in his father’s footsteps both as dentist and legislator. Hayden is also a co-founder of Caring Hands Worldwide, a nonprofit organization that provides free dental care for people in need.

In the street clinics Hayden runs in Eugene, he performs dental work for mainly veterans. Many veterans are not covered for dental work through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The clinic also serves to find providers to people who need other medical services. Continue reading

Senator Chuck Thomsen: Our veterans deserve secure funding

Chuck Thomsen, a State Senator from Hood River, has been one of the Legislature’s best advocate for the needs of Oregon’s veterans. Recently, State Senator Chuck Thomsen wants to make sure that military veterans in Oregon are receiving the help they need, and to that end he has signed on to a measure as a co-sponsor to make sure the state Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) is funded adequately.
